In 2021 the Cumbre Vieja Volcano in the Canary islands erupted, giving us a beautiful natural spectacle for many months. I used to spend hours in front of the T.V. with my mother watching the live cams and commenting with her on how humbling and awesome the power of nature was. I decided to honor my mom by painting the erupting volcano where I went ‘over the edge’ with the palette knife, using all of the colors available to portrait the lava flow that started at the crater and ended at the edge of the cliffs and the ocean creating new emerged land.
