El Chirichirrete
Bad Boy
Short
Description
These 3 small pieces were painted as training for the big format painting I call La Lindosa. I went to the southern region of Colombia looking for these wall paintings in the middle of the Jungle. They are ancient, perhaps even as old as 20 thousand years in some cases according to the archaeologist that has been studying them for many years. His name is Carlos Castaño. The main walls are in a National Park called Chiribiquete. So in this case I use a combination of the word people use here in Colombia, particularly in Antioquia my state, to describe a bad guy, a gang member, a thief, or an unruly person: Chirrete. I believe that humans are all the same and that even in glorified societies such as the indigenous peoples of the jungle, there are Chirretes. If you look carefully some of the figures are just that, guys being obnoxious Normal people behave like normal humans, which means, less than good in general.
