Frigate Bird

Description
My 4th attempt at portraying my favorite animal on the whole planet. Fregata magnificens. In this case, I wanted to paint a whole family. These creatures have what is called sexual dimorphism, meaning that males and females are distinguished from each other by their color of plumage. Males are completely black (with a red gular sack that they display only in mating season), females are mostly black but with white feathers in their pectoral area, and juveniles (male or female) same as females but with white feathers in their heads. I used solid colors instead of only dripping to paint the bodies. I love these birds. The way they fly is very inspiring and special. They can soar for many hours looking for food. The most specialized behavior they have is called Kleptoparasitism and consists of stealing fish from other birds such as cormorants or pelicans. F. magnificens for evolutionary reasons that are quite complicated to explain here, cannot get wet as those other birds and hence cannot dive for food, so they have to steal fish from other species while in mid-flight. An amazing thing to see.
