I have always been fascinated by bioluminescence. While working at the University of Miami I had the opportunity of working with microalgae and in particular with some species of phytoplankton that produce light. Ever since, I have paid close attention to that and other natural light phenomena displayed by living things, such as fungi, or insects. This painting is all about that.
