Laniakea Gold
The super predator

Short
Description
Inspired by the young New York artist Melissa McCracken (@melissamccrack), I decided to experiment with oil on canvas and abstract forms. My intention was to use a lot of colors and then diffuminate them into the background. By chance that diffumination became long strings that, to me, looked like spiral arms of galaxies, hence the reference to a long string of them moving in one direction like our own Milky Way is doing within Laniakea, our supercluster. In this painting I include a figurative abstract avian form, a non-flying giant bird superpredator that prays on smaller orbiting galaxy birds around it. Everything over a golden background. I Sold this to Dora, the wife of my eldest cousin José, from Medellín, back in 2023.
(2020) - 30cm x 30cm.
