Laniakea Silver
Humingbird lost in space

Short
Description
This is yet another of my first attempts at abstraction. After being inspired by the young New York artist Melissa McCracken (@melissamccrack), I decided to experiment with oil on canvas and abstract forms. My intention was to use a lot of colors and then diffuminate them into the background. By chance that diffumination became long strings that, to me, looked like spiral arms of galaxies, hence the reference to a long string of them moving in one direction like our own Milky Way is doing within Laniakea, our supercluster. In this painting I included figurative, abstract birds, particularly hummingbirds that are orbiting a cluster of vivid colors. I sold this to my cousin Laura, from Medellín, back in 2022.
(2020) - 30cm x 30cm.
