I wanted to paint something for my dearest friend Rafael, he is a mangrove expert, a smart and caring person, and a great teacher. We had many good adventures sampling and measuring mangrove forests for his research in the past, and our conversations quite often drift to those memories when we have the chance to get together. The hardest work I have ever done in my life, and one of the most satisfactory experiences of my existence too.
